I used diamond supreme hosting a few months ago and liked it. So I decided to become an affiliate with them. People create webpages everyday so it's a good money maker. However it is a field that is littered with a lot of competition, but I will try it out for a few months and see how it goes.

1. Become an “expert” on the product

The most successful affiliate marketers are “experts” on the products they promote. To become an expert, it’s highly recommended that you purchase the product yourself to gain first-hand experience using it. If you cannot purchase the product, you must thoroughly research it until you become familiar and knowledgeable enough to promote it.

2. Participate in chat rooms related to the product

You can start your own chat or join an existing one. Do not try to selling initially, but during your chat, mention the product you’re promoting and describe its benefits. If there is interest in your product, you can then refer them to the product through your affiliate link. The same concept holds true for forums and discussion boards.

3. Write your own affiliate program ads

Most merchants will provide pre-written ads for their affiliates to use. If you write your own ad, or make significant changes to the one that’s pre-written, your ad will stand out from the others. Done properly, this will give you a great advantage over those affiliates that are using the same ad as everyone else.

4. Create a free newsletter or ezine

Submit your newsletter to the ezine directories and promote it on your website. Keep in mind that most subscribers are interested in receiving “information” that can help them. After you’ve developed a relationship and the trust of your subscribers, you can then recommend the products you are promoting

5. Create a free ebook

As part of your ebook, include an advertisement and a link to your affiliate website. The ebook can be given away free or used as an incentive to sign up for your newsletter. Submit your ebook to the ebook directories and offer it to other webmasters for inclusion on their website. The more exposure your ebook receives, the more sales you can make.

Affiliate marketing has been around on the Web for quite sometime now, but there are still a lot of people who doesn't know much or even nothing about it. Most of the people that don't know about affiliate marketing and has just discovered it normally thinks that they can make a quick buck or two. Well that's not the case.

To do well in affiliate marketing is not just a one-day task. Affiliate marketing is like an on going assignment where you have to try different things out like different advertising techniques, different ways of adding affiliate banners and text links to your site, etc. You may even have to join a number of affiliate programs just to see which ones performs the best with the other content that you already have on your site.

Another thing is that many affiliates expect to do well from just having a list of about 20 affiliated banners on one page of their site. Well that's not exactly true as people will see your web page and won't even bother clicking on any of the banners to go to your affiliated sites as your web page just looks like a link farm. How people think they can make money this way, I really don't know as affiliate marketing takes time and effort before any results can be seen.

If you are adding affiliate banners or text links to your site, then the best thing to do is for you to add affiliate links or banners to your site that is on the same topic as the other information on your web page. By doing this, you will not want to add too many affiliated banners or text links as it will just look like a page of links and will only turn your visitors away, about three affiliated links should be enough depending on how large the web page is.

Another important aspect in affiliate marketing is advertising. You can't expect to add affiliate material to your site and expect to receive sales straight away. If you have no traffic coming to your site, then you will not get any sales. Becoming an affiliate means to many signing up free spamming, free ad sites, FFA (free for all links pages) and free directories. Any successful affiliate knows that the best place to start is getting a domain name and creating a webpage to presell the products. This is a very good webhost. I will add more later but for now check out Start Logic. They are a good site and I feel great about suggesting them because I have used them. Which is another good tip. Become an affiliate for something you've used and liked, or at least something you've researched. Pushing people to buy something that you haven't tried and would never use brings bad karma. lol.

A good place to start when thinking about becoming an affiliate is to get a web page or a landing page as it's known. A landing page is a place for you to presell your affiliates products.

Many affiliates will give you links, banners or buttons to put on your web site and only a choice few will actually give you a page with a link like this www.affiliate.com/reff349. Even when they do some people get a webpage with a domain name or a referral address to make the site sound better.

But for those that don't give you a page you should get one yourself. That way you can use adwords, adsense and/or overture to advertise it and get traffic.

A few days has passed and I have decided to return to adwords. This time I have a limit of $5.00 a day and 5 keywords. Or I should say keyword phrases. Instead of choosing popular words I strung together a few words that people might choose to advertise my site. I'll see if it works.

Adwords was a dream, now a nightmare

I started out with Dentalplans because I had used it and I realized that many people have no insurance so a lot of them would need this product. Since I used it and like it, I felt good about offering the services to others. I started advertising with adwords. I used a set of keywords, put my daily dollar limit to $5.00, my keywords at a maximum of $0.50 and went to bed. I woke up to 2 sales a total of $80 my FIRST DAY. I was so very excited I couldn't believe it actually worked. Then I went to check out adwords account. It only updated every few hours so it was still saying $0 charged to my account. I completely forgot that it might not be right that I have to wait a few more hours and see. So I'm thinking I wasn't charged anything and so I raised the price of the keywords. Next two days nothing, barely any clicks on ads and no revenue. I was back to disappointment.

Another 2 days went by still nothing. Just that $80 staring back at me. I went again to adwords account to see that almost all of my keywords were disabled because my price wasn't high enough. I raised the prices and raised them until most were at 8 or 9 dollars a PIECE. I also had to raise daily limit to $30. Now 3 days later I had to pause adword advertising because I still only have $80 from 2 sales and I now owe adwords $98. So I lost money instead of gaining. I'm off to find another way to advertise. This has slowly turned into a nightmare. Only a week and I'm ready to call it quits. I knew it would be hard but wow this is ridiculous.

So I am an affiliate, with my own page. I even signed up to adwords. Only problem, no traffic. None at all and I don't know how to go about getting it. Adwords isn't doing it at all for me and I don't know what on earth to do next.

My program sent me an email and I've been accepted to be an affiliate, I have checked out many sites about becoming an affiliate and what is the best way to get traffic and a web site to host. This is getting to be more difficult than I first realize but I will keep up with it and hope it pays off.
